- Current Board certification ; current New York State medical license
Experience:
- 10 years in medical education at undergraduate or graduate level
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Faculty development experience highly desirable
Position Summary:
The Clerkship Director for the Introductory Longitudinal Clerkship will work closely with the Vice Dean to ensure the necessary and desired educational content is addressed and optimal learning methods are utilized for the clerkship program.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Curricular Activities: Work closely and collaboratively with the Vice Dean, Academic Affairs and Education staff to assure that the necessary and desired educational content is addressed and optimal learning methods are utilized. Track national trends in medical education in their area, and implement changes as needed with collaboration from the clerkship directors’ group and the curriculum committee. (Proposals for significant changes to course/clerkship require the approval of the Curriculum Committee.) Investigate novel educational tools and alternative methods of content delivery that have been demonstrated to improve student learning outcomes and encourage their adoption by faculty and introduction into the course/clerkship. Work directly with directors and leaders of other curricular initiatives. Participate actively in the Clerkship Directors group with others who teach in related areas to ensure consistency, coordination and integration with minimal redundancy. Develop and effectively communicate course/clerkship objectives and outcome measures to faculty and students.
