This will include both day and night coverage – remaining on site – to be available for all calls for spiritual care throughout the night and during holidays.

Hourly Range: $18.50 - $23.78

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position: Chaplain Resident

Department: Spiritual Care

Reports to: Spiritual Care Manager

Position Summary: Responsible for the spiritual care of assigned specific units of the patient areas of the hospital as well as sharing in the on-call duties of the chaplains at AMC Hospital. This will include both day and night coverage – remaining on site – to be available for all calls for spiritual care throughout the night and during holidays.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, post graduate work related to counseling and/or spiritual care or seminary training. Graduate degree given preference. Must have completed a minimum of one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provides spiritual care to the patients in the assigned units through visiting,

responding to requests for spiritual care and responding to emergencies in those units.

  1. Provides on-call – 5pm to 8 am - night coverage for the hospital

making rounds on the intensive care units and responding to all calls for a spiritual

presence during their on-call hours.

  1. To be present to the staff, being available for support of staff in

difficult situations involving patients, their families or simple job-related stress.

  1. Is available for consults with staff, family and patient when deemed necessary by any

member of the health care team (chaplain included).

  1. Provides spiritual assessments, grief counseling, religious services, crisis counseling and consultations on ethical issues.

  2. Is available to the families of patients, providing support through their loved

one’s hospital stay.
