Position Summary

Under the direction of an Auditor 3, or other manager, the Auditor 2 is a working supervisor and is responsible to plan, direct, and monitor comprehensive audits and appraisals of accounting and program records and financial affairs to ensure accounts are maintained in compliance with governing laws, rules, regulations, and contracts; who determines the ability of the organization to conduce its program efficiently and effectively; and who evaluates internal controls and practices. These activities require the application of professional accounting and auditing standards and practices.

The Audit Division is seeking to fill three (3) Auditor 2 vacancies.

Minimum Qualifications

Either 1) Reachable on the Civil Service eligible list; OR 2) Eligible for reassignment by virtue of having permanent competitive service as an Auditor 2 (23) OR 3) Eligible for transfer under the provisions of the Civil Service Law by virtue of having one year of permanent competitive service in an appropriate title.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

  • Graduate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field

  • Working knowledge of information security principles and practices

Work Modality

This position is subject to a hybrid work schedule.

Job Duties

  • Acts as the auditor-in-charge and performs audits to ensure that transactions are processed and properly accounted for, and effective controls are in place.

  • Reviews and approves audit plans, progress and final reports prepared by internal audit staff.

  • Supervises internal audit staff and helps to develop their skills.

  • Determines scope of audits. Assigns long-term work plan to internal audit staff to meet priorities and workload.

  • Communicates orally and in writing with their supervisors, other auditors, and with employees and representatives of the organizations being audited in a complete, accurate and concise manner.

  • Conducts and/or participates in entrance conferences with representatives of the organization being audited to explain audit goals and methodology and to gain access to records.

  • Performs research on complex assignments, understanding applicable laws, rules and regulations governing the operation

  • Proposes and leads projects to enhance the internal audit program.

  • Presents engagement results to internal customers and the Audit Committee

  • Networks with other auditing professionals and participate in professional organizations

$96,294 to $125,641
