SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Sales Representatives excel at providing accurate information and proactively matching Museum offerings to the interests and needs of our guests. Working primarily at the Museum's box office and secondarily at other cash-handling locations, Sales Representatives sell tickets, memberships, and additional venues and products to increase audience engagement, meet sales objectives while supporting Museum revenue, and provide the best possible experience for the Museum of Science visitors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Courteously and efficiently help visitors plan their visit, by selling tickets, memberships, and other products to meet sales goals for priorities such as annual memberships, automatic renewal enrollment, and additional venues and offerings. Develop and maintain a working knowledge of Museum offerings and products across all channels. Use that knowledge to make proactive suggestions to visitors/members to increase the engagement of our audience, boost revenue for the Museum, and support the best possible experience for guests.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of the Museum's customer relationship management/point of sale system, its operation, and related business rules, processes, and equipment to provide timely, accurate, and efficient transactions, information, and resolutions to related issues. Handle large amounts of cash and credit card transactions honestly and accurately to protect the Museum, our guests, and their experience.

  • Provide excellent service to our guests in a courteous, upbeat, and welcoming manner. Listen to and address guests' needs and resolve service issues promptly and helpfully, seeking assistance from colleagues and supervisors as needed. Serve as a positive representative of the Visitor Services Department and the Museum taking responsibility to ensure all communications and work, consistently meet our service promise to deliver a welcoming, comfortable, world-class, Museum experience.

  • Engage in the Museum's OKR and training programs, as applicable.

  • Perform other work-related duties as required by the manager.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Non-Exempt (Full-Time) : Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 8:45 am-5:15 pm each day

REPORTS TO:

Manager, Visitor Services

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience: 6 or more months of sales experience.

  • Ability to match guest interest to Museum offerings and effectively up-sell additional offerings to meet sales goals.

  • Experience in high guest volume, fast-paced settings.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail.

  • Proven experience in multi-tasking calmly and efficiently.

  • Proven success working independently.

  • Basic math skills sufficient to collect payment and make accurate changes on transactions, compare costs of guest purchase options or keep accurate capacity counts.

  • Proven ability to maintain accuracy in cash handling.

  • Demonstrated customer service and communication skills.

STARTING SALARY:

Non-Exempt (Hourly). $17.00 an hour.
