SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment by coordinating the activities of Public Safety Officers on the shift including but not limited to: ensuring staff are properly trained to perform daily shift procedures and operational tasks; responding to emergency incidents and performing critical analysis of the circumstances to determine when to involve the Director of Public Safety or Assistant Manager or Public Safety and take preliminary action to safe guard staff, volunteers, interns, guests, and property prior to the arrival of the Director of Public Safety and/or Crisis Management Team designee; monitoring the Skidata garage system and garage capacity report to coordinate efficient garage entry and exit process; and accounting of garage bank and daily revenue.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings and trainings to ensure working knowledge of the Crisis Management Plan and proficiency in all emergency procedures to effectively respond to threats to the safety and security of staff, guests, and property. Emergency incidents include but are not limited to bomb threats, fire, severe weather, power or equipment failure, lost children, medical incidents, disorderly persons or disturbances, robbery or other violent acts, and animal escapes.

  • Coordinates activities of Public Safety Officers on the shift to ensure proper deployment of resources to effectively monitor the Museum and be alert to alert to potential threats to the safety & security of staff, volunteers, interns, guests, and property.

  • Actively participate in mandatory trainings including Management of Aggressive Behavior, CPR/1st Aid/AED for Adults, Children and Infants, Blood Borne Pathogens, and Crowd Manager to comply with state and federal regulations and effectively execute emergency procedures during incident response.

  • Expeditiously responds to all incidents, disturbances or requests for assistance. Assesses initial impact on safety and security to determine when it may be necessary to escalate an issue to the attention of the Director of Public Safety, Assistant Manager of Public Safety, or Crisis Management designee. Performs critical analysis of incident to make informed, on the spot decisions to safe guard staff, volunteers, interns, guests, and property prior to the arrival of the Director of Public Safety and/or Crisis Management Team designee.

  • Thoroughly documents incident response and activities using the iTrak report writing program, conducting limited investigations as needed in order to compile accurate and detailed information.

  • Operates CCure 9000 to create/modify Museum identification badges, trouble shoot access control issues, and monitors Cure 9000 & Victor Client CCTV to coordinate effective response to alarms to ensure a safe and secure environment.

  • Monitors Skidata garage system and garage capacity report to coordinate efficient garage entry and exit process. Maintains accounting of garage bank and daily revenue including setting up and closing out the garage cash register and processing batch transmission of manual credit card transactions.

  • Mentors and orients new Public Safety Staff to shift procedures and daily operational tasks, makes initial attempts to re-train or correct task oriented issues, and reports performances issues to the Assistant Manager of Public Safety.

WORK SCHEDULE:

This position is regular, full-time, 40hrs/wk, Tuesday - Saturday

Assistant Manager, Public Safety

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • H.S Diploma or equivalent.

  • 2 or more years of security, incident response, and customer service experience

  • Demonstrated leadership skills

  • Demonstrated effective decision-making using sound judgment

  • Ability to remain calm in emergencies

  • Experience training and orienting staff

  • Attention to detail

  • Demonstrated customer service skills

  • Ability to comprehensively operate Windows-based computer systems and electronic equipment

  • Ability to remain alert

  • Written and verbal communication skills and thorough comprehension of the English language

STARTING SALARY:

Non-Exempt (Hourly). $20.00 - $22.00/ hour
