SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Director of Human Resources is an integral part of the operations of the Human Resources and Volunteer Services (HRVS) Division. Working closely with the Chief People Officer, this position oversees a staff of two full-time employees, including the HRIS Administrator and the Benefits and Employee Programs Specialist. This position is responsible for developing and administering policies and procedures for the Museum They will also oversee all employee-focused programs in collaboration with the Director of Talent, Culture, and Belonging to ensure that all processes drive the Museum's DEAIB initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Employee Relations: This involves handling employee grievances, conflicts, and disciplinary actions following the Museum's policies and applicable federal and state laws.

  • Compensation and Benefits: This entails managing the organization's compensation and benefits programs, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, market competitiveness and effective communication to Museum's staff.

  • Policy Development and Compliance: This involves developing and updating human resources policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

  • HR Administration: This encompasses overseeing human resources administration processes, such as employee record-keeping and HRIS management.

  • HR Leadership: This involves leading two professional human resources staff members, including daily direction, goal setting, and performance management.

  • Collaborative Participation in HRVS Leadership Team Decisions: This entails actively participating in HRVS leadership team decisions, including strategic direction.

  • Diversity and Inclusion: This involves promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, access and belonging within the organization in collaboration with the Director of Talent, Culture, and Belonging.

  • Employee Safety and Wellness: This includes ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations in collaboration with the Environmental Health and Safety Manager, promoting employee wellness programs, and managing workplace incidents or accidents.

  • HR Analytics and Reporting: This involves analyzing human resources data and metrics to provide insights and recommendations for improving human resources strategies and practices.

  • Legal Compliance: This encompasses staying updated on labor laws and regulations, ensuring human resources practices comply with federal and state legal requirements, and liaising with legal counsel as needed.

  • Budget Management: This involves developing, implementing, and maintaining the HRVS department budget.

  • Other Work-Related Duties: Performing other work-related duties as required by the Manager.

    WORK SCHEDULE:

    Monday-Friday (40 hours per week)

    REPORTS TO:

    Chief People Officer

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science or Arts degree reguired, Master's degree preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of Human Resources experience with 2-5 years in a management role with depth in compensation and benefits.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated ability to investigate and successfully resolve employee concerns promptly

  • Proven experience with benefits administration and strategy

  • Strong experience with administering a compensation program

  • Ability to manage competing priorities with a clear sense of urgency

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

  • Proficient with multi-state employment law and compliance requirements

  • Experience in researching and writing policies and procedures

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels at the organization

  • Demonstrated experience in managing staff

  • Strong leadership and collaboration experience and skills

  • Ability to develop and implement a variety of employee-focused programs

  • Proven project management skills and attention to detail

  • Experience utilizing human resources information systems, UKG a plus

    STARTING SALARY:

    Exempt (Salaried) $115,000-$135,000/ annually
