National Grid FP&A Business Planning Manager (15 Month FTC) in Warwick, United Kingdom

We’re looking for a passionate FP&A Business Planning Manager (15 Month FTC) to join our UK Controllership team in leading the National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) Strategic Business Planning processes to increase effectiveness and maximise the insight provided to meet all internal and external stakeholder requirements. You will also be responsible for calculating and maintaining the alternative performance measures, including Return of Equity, RAV, Regulatory performance etc.

This role is based out of our Warwick office, and we’d hope to see you 2-3 days per week but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!

What You'll Do:

  • Deliver the end-to-end the annual strategic business planning processes. Including the preparation of Entity Executive reporting, Entity Board reporting and Group reporting. Support all FP&A responsibilities including budgeting, forecasting and long-term planning processes, and other internal and external management reporting.

  • Responsible for calculating and maintaining the alternative performance measures, including Return of Equity, RAV, Regulatory Financial Performance, etc.

  • Manage and co-ordinate processes by setting accurate timetables, key performance metrics and guidance to ensure delivery to agreed timescales and stakeholder requirements.

  • Act as a business partner for assigned stakeholders to support them in generating and interpreting business information and using it effectively to make informed business decisions.

  • Proactively build own knowledge of the RIIO regulatory framework and its impact on the industry and the business to support key decisions and advise and guide own business area.

  • Proactively seek opportunities to enhance operational efficiency through best practice.

  • Review and challenge Entity performance to provide insightful reporting, aligned to group and entity targets.

  • Provide ad hoc analysis as and when required.

What You'll Have:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA etc).

  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Experience in reporting financial information.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills. The ability to summarise complex transactions, weighing up all the relevant factors, such as how transactions impact other areas of the business to senior management and in formal board papers.

  • Experience of leading planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes.

  • Working knowledge of balance and cash flow forecasting.

  • Good commercial understanding and experience.

  • Strategic finance leader with the credibility and strength to influence and shape decisions.

  • Focused on the detail, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to build relationships across the business and influence stakeholders.
