Job Summary:

The Manager of Consumer Sales is a sales leader focused on sales growth for our Massachusetts Senior Care Options (SCO) product. Working closely with the VP of Sales, the Manager will develop a business plan to ensure the sales team consistently achieve or exceed sales goals as well as collaborating with community partners and Boston Medical Center Health System (BMCHS) to maintain a strong community presence and brand awareness, driving prospective member engagement and generating sales leads.

The Manager of Consumer Sales may assume responsibility for additional Medicare/Medicaid products and/or expanded markets in the future.

Key Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Strategically networks to generate leads and build relationships; attends external meetings and events with team membersas necessary to offer support and represent WellSense.

  • Ability to develop relationships with community organizations, community health centers and providers to assure sales goals are met.

  • Assures compliance and adherence with the team to Medicare & Medicaid enrollment and marketing policies and procedures through collaboration with the Medicare Sales Administration and Oversight team.

  • Accountable for overall team performance against established sales goals. Holds team members accountable for community outreach activity, lead follow up and other lead generation activity.

  • Onboards new team members (direct reports) and ensures that team is properly trained and licensed; assists with community outreach department and sales team training, as needed.

  • Develop weekly/month activity expectations to standardize expectations for outreach and sales reps

  • Manage sales activity calendar with the team.

  • Work with VP of Sales and Product Director to further to further develop strategies for lead development and community partnership with BMCHS.

  • Analyzes performance data to identify opportunities to improve processes, performance and training.

  • Oversees regional sales team’s participation in large-scale community events.

  • Ability to network with community resources and use marketing channels to increase brand recognition, expand referral circles and grow membership.

  • Gathers information from team members on competitor activity and shares with appropriate marketing personnel.

  • Identifies and makes recommendation for participation in regional events, activities, and sponsorships.

  • Develops training to help with communication to potential WellSense members regarding eligibility requirements and steps required to enroll.

  • Consistently seeks out opportunities for sales team to present to groups about WellSense product line benefits (public speaking).

  • Represents Sales team on internal initiatives that may require collaboration with the following teams: Community Outreach, Marketing, Care Management and other BMC partners. This may result in taking the lead on efforts to implement cross organizational initiates that will benefit membership growth directly or indirectly.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervision Exercised:

  • Will directly and indirectly supervise up to 10 FTEs

Supervision Received:

  • General supervision is received weekly

Qualifications:

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience.

Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 5 years of Medicare sales experience preferably with the dual eligible market with a proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding goals.

  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience.

Experience Preferred/Desirable:

  • Sales team management experience (2+ years)

Required Licensure, Certification or Conditions of Employment:

  • Must have a Massachusetts Individual Health Producer License

  • Successful completion of pre-employment background check

Competencies, Skills, and Attributes:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to speak successfully with individuals as well as groups.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple projects and prioritize in a fast-paced business environment.

  • Proven relationship-building skills, ability to participate in work teams.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, primarily Word & Powerpoint required; Competency with Excel spreadsheet and customer relationship software strongly preferred.

  • Highly developed organizational and analytical skills, with sharp attention to detail.

  • Reliability, commitment to setting and meeting goals a must.

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with community groups and leaders.

  • A keen sense of judgment and tact, as well as ability to work with all levels of management, community organizations, general public

  • Excellent interpersonal skills required to effectively develop and maintain strong working relationships across all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to motivate others to achieve goals.

  • Ability to speak comfortably and effectively to large or small groups

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • Up to 50% of time is spent traveling to meet members and events.Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the position.

  • Ability to work extra hours during peak periods.

  • Ability to lift boxes of materials up to 25 pounds.

  • Must have reliable transportation.
