Your Opportunity

The Customer Insight Team provide and enable actionable insights across Higher Education International (HEI). These inform our understanding of customers and markets to:

  • Inform and shape HEI strategy with enhanced confidence

  • Inform and validate specific business decisions and initiatives directly connected to the most significant HEI growth drivers and/or objectives

  • Cultivate a learner-centric mindset in HEI

  • Support an ongoing customer feedback loop to drive product effectiveness

The Research and Insights Manager is responsible for leading the identification, testing, and implementation of research-enablement platforms (this may include but not be limited to consumer research communities), as well as delivering research and insights projects that support business decisions and initiatives aligned to HEI growth drivers.

This role will work with teams across the business including regional Product Management teams, regional GTM teams, Transnational Global Initiatives team, Global Insights community (central team, ELL, virtual schools, UK schools) and the US higher education team (specifically insights teams and student ambassador team).

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing our HEI Research-enablement platforms for consumers in target regions and assessing platform ROI. Lead on a programme of centralised research, working with stakeholders across the product management and GTM teams. Support stakeholders across the business to engage with research platforms (both those who are actively using it for their own research purposes and those who need to understand the insight being generated within it). Bring together insight from across the platforms (cross referencing with existing primary and secondary research where necessary) and share with the business. Be the key liaison with the platform vendors and manage the budget for platform use and incentives.

  • Working with stakeholders across the business to design, execute, and analyse quantitative and qualitative research that informs business decisions and initiatives.

  • Taking the lead on areas of foundational research (e.g. regional market watch surveys / market opportunity deep dives), which may involve primary quantitative and/or qualitative research, and secondary research.

  • Working on targeted macro international competitor analysis to fill specific gaps (on an as needed basis). Leverage Global or US-led work on competitors where possible.

  • Analysing internal data sets (channel sales, salesforce data, usage data) as part of research projects. Compiling and consolidating data insights into actionable items, reports and presentations.

  • Pro-actively building and developing a strong network across the business to collect and share external market data, working with in-market teams for local insights and market trends.

  • Co-developing and co-owning a central repository of research, consumer and data insights

  • Working with the CI team to engage HEI in relevant insight via written and oral communications.

Skills and experience

  • 3+ years market research experience in quantitative and qualitative methods, including research instrument design, research data analysis and distillation of key findings.

  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to navigate complex organization structures and influence across related, but distinct, roles in order to succeed.

  • Strong commercial acumen and awareness of ROI measures.

  • Intellectually curious and data-driven with strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills

  • Strong segmentation, planning, positioning and messaging skills

  • Self-motivated and “hands-on”, taking the initiative to problem solve and find solutions.

  • Adaptable and flexible

  • Strong organisation and planning skills

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills

  • Desirable - experience in managing virtual communities, from both a technical and a strategic perspective

  • Desirable - HE experience and connections with HE communities
