Job Summary:

Work as a member of an innovative, high performing Engineering Team to develop industry leading residential HVAC products. Specific responsibilities could include the design and development of Condenser, Air handler and Coil cabinets, airflow systems, refrigeration/heat transfer systems, electrical systems, electric heater development, and packaging design.

Responsibilities:

  • Development and or validation testing for New Product Development (NPD) and or VAVE/Sustaining projects in order to meet performance and reliability objectives

  • Participation as an active member of product development teams

  • Development of indoor air systems

  • Condenser, Air handler & Coil development, including cabinet design, coil circuiting, Air flow, Electric heat & packaging

  • Define and execute VAVE projects sufficient to meet annual materials productivity targets

  • Support the development and maintain a list of viable potential VAVE projects with a cumulative value of at least 150% of the annual assigned materials productivity goal.

  • Participate in cost savings and productivity improvements

  • Material / component specification, qualification and selection

  • Engineering analysis (such as simulation, finite element analysis, CFD)

  • Prototype development and testing

  • Engineering data/unit attribute creation

  • Agency listings (UL, ETL, etc.)

  • Communicate project status and or problems to management, laboratory technicians, manufacturing and customers through formal reviews

  • Create and maintain engineering Bills of Materials, 3D models using Pro E, drawings and specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum BS in Mechanical Engineering required (advanced degree preferred)

  • Preferred 1 – 3 years HVAC development or related experience

Key Competencies:

  • Aptitude for mechanical/electrical design, development and testing.

  • Results-oriented individual with an emphasis placed on achieving overall team performance.

  • Problem assessment and problem-solving skills.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Works effectively in a diverse open consensus-oriented team environment.

  • Conflict management skills.

  • Airflow system design and testing experience a plus.

  • Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt or Lean Expert a plus.

  • Thermodynamics (includes understanding of refrigeration cycle)

  • Familiarity with PC based Windows programs (Excel, Word, Access, etc.).

  • Capability with Pro-E 3-D solid modeling.
