Material handlers play a crucial role in the day-to day operations of a warehouse. They move freight, stock, supplies and other materials from one area to another, loading items onto trucks, shelves, or shipping pallets. They are responsible for packing orders, palletizing and preparing orders for shipments, as well as for a variety of general labor tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Picking orders from inventory
Unloading, moving and storing materials from yard location, warehouse and trucks
Utilizing manual lifts, reach trucks and transfer equipment (requires applicable safety and operational training)
Storing and stacking materials according to company standards
Identifying and verifying parts
Reporting inventory shortages and recommending new orders
REQUIRED JOB SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND ABILITIES:
Education: High school or equivalent
Must have forklift experience'minimum sit down lift experience
Must have a good communication skills, mathematical skills and reasoning ability for this position
Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts and vibration
Regularly required to stand, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
Required to walk, use hands, handle or feel, climb or balance and talk or hear
Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, colour vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
