Crop and Process Specialist (Job Number: 015524W-01)


  • Comply with all DuPont Pioneer Core Values. Demonstrate mind-set and behaviors within Pioneer’s and AP Regional Quality Lab’s Mission, Vision and Values. Participate in safety and other core value trainings as well as daily core value briefings. Participate and contribute to team technical learning and knowledge sharing sessions.

  • Conduct Lab Activities. Lead daily seed testing activities (i.e. Planting, Evaluation, Data Encoding and Analysis, Equipment Verification), to provide quality data to the customers in a timely and accurate manner

  • Participate and Pass ISTA and Pioneer Local & Global Proficiency Tests. Achieve and maintain at least 90% world-class proficiency level

  • Lead Business Improvement Initiatives. Identify and implement business improvement projects, conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions accordingly

  • Implement Trainings. Develop training modules, update training materials and conduct trainings for newly hired crop evaluators. Conduct annual refresher trainings for existing crop evaluators. Crop includes both dicots and monocots – comprising several crop species.

  • Maintain Technical Competency of Crop Evaluators. Prepare and conduct monthly proficiency tests for all authorized crop evaluators and trainees. This involves several crop species and multi evaluation platforms such as Pioneer & ISTA evaluation platforms. The combination of multi-crops x multi-platform of evaluations makes this process complicated.

  • Maintain, update and submit quality documentations. Maintain necessary documentation and quality records to provide evidence that ISTA standards, Pioneer objectives, plans, procedures and work instructions are being followed. Ensure confidentiality of company information.

  • Participate in on-site technical & systems audits such as ISTA audits

  • Promote teamwork and work with diverse organizational units such as Research, Supply Management, Quality Testing, Lab Management, supervisors and co-worker to complete task and to promote an environment conducive to all lab activities.

  • Lead and participate in projects focused on continuous improvement of all processes involved in seed quality testing.

  • Perform special tasks or assignments that maybe assigned by direct supervisor such as participation in ad-hoc experiments on laboratory procedure; review of scientific literature; reporting & presentation of review of scientific literature

  • Perform complex laboratory procedure such as tetrazolium testing; MC determination; OSD – identification of seeds at the genus & species level, among others


  • College Graduate, focus in Agriculture or Biology or Seed Science & Technology

  • Customer Service Oriented and well organized

  • Good organizational and analytical skills

  • Ability to supervise and work well with other lab personnel

  • Flexibility in adapting to fluctuating workloads and tasks

  • Ability to effectively communicate progress, concerns and issues to Lab Leaders and/or Quality Testing Manager

  • Good computer skills

  • Basic Microsoft programs (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word), Image J
