Job Summary

This person serves as equipment manager for the College's Regional Sports Center and it's related activities. This includes the ordering of supplies, care and maintenance of equipment and uniforms, assisting in inventory of equipment. This position directs various work study students. Evening and weekend work is required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage athletic and sports facilities equipment to include issuing, ordering, storing, taking inventory, maintaining proper condition of equipment, and recommending replacement. Fit all athletic uniforms in coordination with the Director of Athletics and coaches. Regularly clean, repair, and maintain equipment, as appropriate. Collect equipment from athletes at the end of the team's season or earlier should the athlete be ineligible or leaves the team. Provide list of students who have failed to return equipment to Athletic Director so academic "holds" may be initiated until all items are returned. Maintain orderly, well-managed spaces for equipment. Coordinate the laundry room. Recommend strategies to improve tracking, inventory processes and efficiency.

  • Manage and coordinate the RCTC Open Gym program with the Director of Sports Facilities, including directing open gym student workers.

  • Manage physical education equipment to include issuing, ordering, storing, taking inventory, maintaining proper condition of equipment, and recommending replacement. Maintain orderly, well-managed space for equipment.

  • Preform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of athletic equipment and its maintenance/repair.

  • Ability to provide records and perform clerical functions and math calculations sufficient to order supplies and complete inventories.

  • Ability to provide, lead work direction and training to other staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and supervisory skills.

  • Security and area preparation.

  • Effective bookkeeping/inventory skills.

  • Mechanical and general repair work.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education courses.

  • Basic knowledge of the MinnState purchasing system.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform a variety of physical tasks, move materials weighing 40-60 lbs. (and occasionally more), and work in inclement weather when necessary.

Additional Requirements

In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
