Team/Position Overview

Corporate Finance and Control is a collaborative group that provides financial planning, complex financial analysis, reporting under IFRS, taxation compliance and business reporting for EDC. Our group is hiring new members to help us meet the needs of our internal customers and is looking for innovative people interested in changing the status-quo for the betterment of this growing and evolving organization.

As the newest addition to our team, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to combine their solid accounting skills with a big picture understanding of business results and the related drivers in order to provide value-added and timely insights to our customers. This includes accessing and combining information from multiple information systems to analyze financial results, developing and improving internal and external reports, and implementing continuous improvements.

We currently have an opening for a Manager role to manage the processes and resources required to provide accurate accounting, reporting and planning information and analysis that supports financial decision making related to our treasury and equity investment portfolios.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures that accounting and financial reporting are conducted accurately and on time and in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

  • Ensures that the Corporation has an appropriate accounting system with effective internal controls in place.

  • Leads the performance and skill/career development of assigned staff ensuring the team has the capacity and capability to address the needs of the organization.

  • Develops and implements new policies and processes to comply with newly issued or amended accounting or financial reporting standards.

  • Provides accounting guidance to ensure conformity with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and company policies and procedures, and ensures that relevant accounting standards are appropriately and consistently applied.

  • Performs general accounting activities and maintains accounting and financial records and reports, including general ledger, financial statements, regulatory and management reports.

  • Prepares, analyzes and reports accounting transactions ensuring the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles.

  • Ensures all reports and disclosures comply with applicable government regulations, professional standards and organization policies.

  • Oversees inputs to quarterly and annual financial reports including the preparation of the Management Discussion and Analysis and Notes to the Financial Statements.

  • Ensures successful completion of annual financial statement audits and manages the audit process for the pension plans.

  • Works closely with the external auditors on the various audit engagements.

  • Partners closely with the Treasury, Equity Investments and Enterprise Analytics and Forecasting teams.

  • Ensures accurate and timely completion of Corporate Plan deliverables.

  • Identifies opportunities to streamline and simplify activities to create efficiencies and capacity.

  • Demonstrates behaviors that align with the organization culture, including customer focus, transparency and decisiveness.

Screening Criteria

  • A minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in business, accounting and/or financial analysis

  • Completed an Undergraduate degree in Business Administration or in a related field

  • CPA or equivalent accounting designation

  • Advanced knowledge of IFRS and accounting and financial analysis

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities

  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)

Assets

  • Experience in managing professional staff is an asset

  • Experience working in a financial services and/ or Crown corporation environment

Location

  • Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.

  • This role would preferably be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa, however candidates from the Community Hub in Montreal/Toronto will also be considered.

  • Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

Salary Range

  • (Mgr Acct. & Fin. Analysis 19) Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $107,132 - $142,842 plus performance-based incentive
