The Accounts Receivable Accounting Technician is responsible for collection/processing of balances due and payments on student/non-student accounts while ensuring all receipts/billings are properly recorded. This position also provides support for purchasing card compliance. Additional responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following.

  • Prepare bank deposits to ensure accurate bank records are maintained.

  • Distribute financial aid overage checks and direct deposits.

  • Manage the Federal Perkins Loan program and ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations/procedures.

  • Provide support for the collection of delinquent accounts including reconciling accounts with outside agencies.

  • Reconcile faculty and staff purchasing card process to ensure all approvals are completed and the necessary documentation is submitted to Business Services.

  • Review tuition and fee tables for accuracy and cross-reference student accounts to ensure charges were posted accurately.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Accounting/Technical business skills obtained through previous education, work experience and training.

  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) sufficient to analyze, interpret and prepare financial information, records and reports: locate errors; and recommend solutions to procedural or other fiscal problems.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft products, such as: Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and administer multiple projects while adhering to strict reporting requirements and deadlines.

  • Written and oral communication skills sufficient to effectively respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, employee/student concerns and outside information requests.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle high volume of transactions, locate errors, reconcile errors and balance accounts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Accounting or related degree.

  • 2+ years of applicable work experience.

  • Experience in Higher Education.

  • Demonstrated ability to stay current with Federal regulations and to follow established calculation formulas concerning aid distribution, refunds and repayments.
