In this position, you will serve as the LGBTQ Education Specialist in the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Center. The EDI Center's mission is to advance the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion to create the conditions for building authentic cross-cultural communities where harm is eliminated, and every person's humanity is acknowledged and valued.
In this role, you will work to provide educational leadership, program development, consultation, and resources to increase the capacity and subject matter expertise within school districts related to LGBTQ students and programming. You will work with help schools create LGBTQ school inclusion policies and practices using a racial equity lens to create a safer and more affirming learning environment for LGBTQ students.
Your work will include partnership with school administrators, school leaders, teachers, and students to implement the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN's) four key supports that work towards creating safe and inclusive schools for all. This includes working on Comprehensive Policy, Educator Support, Student-Led Clubs, and Inclusive Curriculum.
Minimum Qualifications
This position requires Five (5) years of Professional experience in K-12 education OR a bachelor's degree and Four (4) years of Professional experience in K-12 education
Experience must include:
· Leading LGBTQ programming, projects, or activities
· Experience developing and leading professional development
Preferred Qualifications
Community engagement with diverse populations experience.
· Experience administering education grants
· Experience providing training or consultation to educators on LGBTQ+ topics
· Experience leading or implementing LGBTQ policies and practices
· Experience with anti-bias and anti-racist principles, practices, and strategies.
