National Grid Compliance Analyst - Customer Meter Services LI (Associate, Sr., Lead) in Melville, New York

_Job Purpose:_

Analyze regulatory compliance relative to routine the day-to-day operations of Customer Meter Services. Monitor compliance activities, records & metrics to minimize the company’s exposure to regulatory staff findings of non-compliance. Work closely with Customer Meter Services to address Regulatory data requests, audits and assessments. Perform compliance data & field assessments to ensure Operating staff is performing in accordance with all code requirements, work methods and procedures. Manage commitments and data systems designed to demonstrate compliance to the regulatory agencies. Facilitate compliance “coaching assessments”, and provide positive reinforcement feedback to Customer Meter Services Staff ultimately encouraging “thinking beyond the word compliance” culture.

_Key Accountabilities:_

  • Analyze and track compliance metrics, work within Operations to help identify compliance trends that require improvement and track action plans to facilitate improvement.

  • Assist with managing and track commitments associated with compliance consent orders and audits.

  • Monitor official company records used to demonstrate compliance with mandated programs including:

o Regulator Inspections

o Inactive Gas Accounts

o Leak Classification & Leak Investigation

o Operator Qualification

  • Provide support during regulatory audits including working with Regulators in review of official Company records.

  • Provide other data and field compliance assessments in accordance with the Pipeline Safety Operations Self Assessment Toolkit including:

  • Warning Tags

  • Service Start up & Inspects (house pipe tests, re-lights etc)

  • M&R installation clearances (meters, regulators, vents etc...)

  • HEFPA reporting (NY)

  • Field Access to Company O&M Programs

  • Leak Investigation Instrument Calibration & Management

  • Buildings of Public Assembly inspections

Employees are expected to deliver on the key accountabilities listed above as well as those listed below:

  • Provide routine compliance assessment updates at Safety Briefs to help Operations Staff increase focus on areas of non-compliance in balance with communication of positive feedback where compliance is on target or exceptional.

  • Research and analyze gas procedures and regulatory requirements to determine scenarios that might impact the company.

_Knowledge and Experience Requirements_

  • A Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering and 1-5 years of related experience.

  • Knowledge and experience in gas field operations activities

  • Knowledge of National Grid’s business operations, company policies and practices Proficient in Microsoft Office software such as MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access and MS PowerPoint, Microstrategy

  • Proficient in Company data management/information systems such as mapping systems (GIS), MWORK, etc... as appropriate by jurisdiction.

  • Must possess excellent communication skills specifically within Gas Operations environments, conflict resolution and detailed oriented.

  • Demonstrated ability to meet time/date driven mandates.

  • Familiar with Company Operator Qualification program.

  • Extensive and significant knowledge of one field of work or broad technical depth in multiple, related fields sufficient to lead programs or projects.

  • Knowledge of relevant industry practice and regulations. Knowledge of developments in regulation.

  • Demonstrated leadership capability to work independently to achieve compliance goals and objectives.
