We are currently recruiting for a QC Microbiology Operational Co-ordinator.

In this role you will be responsible for coordinating the work of a QC Microbiology product testing team (both sterile and non-sterile products) to ensure that testing activities are carried out within agreed customer lead-times and in compliance with company and cGLP/SHE procedures.


  • You will hold responsibility for planning and co-ordinating the daily work of a team of laboratory technicians to provide efficient microbiological testing services to meet customer needs and maintain appropriate KPIs.

  • Required to participate in external regulatory inspections and internal audits, you will ensure that the appropriate quality/SHE systems are followed in order for the laboratory to meet its responsibilities with respect to cGLP, cGMP and SHE.

  • You will formally clear or reject products, materials and laboratory results against the registered Product Specifications / Pharmacopeial criteria to ensure the quality of these products to the customer or user.

  • You will investigate and formally report Laboratory Investigations and Deviation Investigations

  • You will perform the role of initiator and implementation manager for QC change controls.

  • You will lead and facilitate team PDCA and short interval control meetings and when appropriate, attend production PDCA meetings.

  • You will provide experienced first line support for microbiological method and equipment issues within the laboratory.

  • You will organise engineer and supplier visits for support, calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

  • As a proactive team member you will participate in and or lead continuous improvement activities within the laboratory and or Quality Control department.

  • The role requires constant communication with business areas to plan work into the QC Laboratory to meet agreed lead-times.


You should be qualified to at least HNC level or equivalent in Biological Sciences and/or some relevant working experience in a GMP compliant environment, and with proven working experience in the area of laboratory QC.

You should have sound knowledge and understanding of Microbiological QC testing.

This position is internally aligned to Career Level C
