National Grid Senior Content Manager (Hybrid Working) - FTC in London, United Kingdom

About the role

This Senior Content Manager opportunity is a 1-year Fixed Term contract (maternity cover). You'll be responsible for leading National Grid’s external global social media and digital content strategy, working closely with stakeholders across all business units. This is a key leadership role in the Group Corporate Communications and Brand team. This role is responsible for leading a best-in-class external digital communications team, covering social media specialists, content writers and video producers, and aligning execution with our communications strategy across the business. Sitting in Corporate Affairs, this role has a heavy focus on managing National Grid’s reputation through digital communications, covering content production, channel management, social media listening, community management, publishing, advertising, influencer partnerships and campaigns.

Strategy

⦁ Set the Group and UK social media and digital content strategy, working with stakeholders across the business, and aligning with key strategic priorities

⦁ Lead on National Grid’s external social media channel architecture, advising and collaborating with colleagues across the business

⦁ Set the best practice standards for social media and digital content and embed among social media and content teams across the business

⦁ Advise the business on changes in the social media and content industries, and act as needed

Social media

⦁ Translate key messages into social media deliverables, with support from the team

⦁ Advise on and oversee paid social media advertising for Group and the UK, including influencer partnerships

⦁ Advise on and support the social media accounts of Group executives

⦁ Collaborate with communicators across the business, in both the UK and US, and manage regular meetings, ensuring alignment of messaging and output

⦁ Lead the social media strategy for major campaigns with Group involvement

⦁ Manage agency relationships to ensure the best output

⦁ Manage the contracts for social media software and tools

Content

⦁ Set the Group digital content strategy, working with stakeholders across the business, and aligning with key strategic priorities

⦁ Overall responsibility for National Grid Group’s podcast

⦁ Lead and advise on long-form written content and video projects

⦁ Support the Group Digital Content Editor to deliver against the digital content strategy

Training and advocacy

⦁ Lead training initiatives for colleagues across the business to embed the social media and content strategy, and advise leaders on the effective use of social media

⦁ Manage the employee advocacy programme, working closely with stakeholders in the US and UK

Leadership

⦁ Lead the Group social media and content team, responsible for the development of team members covering social media and content production

⦁ Advise the Corporate Communications and Brand leadership team, and leaders across Corporate Affairs

Manage the team budget

About you

Knowledge & Experience required:

  • Experience leading a social media or digital communications team in a large organisation

  • Proven experience managing social media and digital content strategy and execution

  • Strong organisational skills, able to prioritise and juggle a wide range of projects from multiple business units at any one time

  • A solid understanding of corporate social media, including owned, earned and paid

  • A solid understanding of content production, including written, visual and podcasts

  • Experience analysing and reporting on social media, and translating data into insights for internal stakeholders

  • Knowledge of SEO, keyword research and social listening tools are advantageous

  • Strong stakeholder relationship skills with the ability to develop and maintain relationships across multiple functions and countries

  • Strong understanding of the use of professional social media, including best practice, specifications and changing regulations

  • Excellent in-person and written communicator

What you'll get

This is a 1-year FTC (Maternity cover).

A competitive salary Circa £80,000 – 85,000 – dependent on capability

As well as your base salary, you will receive a company car or allowance, a bonus of up to 20% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
