CSU’s Systems Engineering Programs began in 2008 and offers graduate level degrees including a Master of Engineering (M.E.), Master of Science (M.S.) a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) which currently has an impressive 86 graduate students, and a graduate certification in Systems Engineering Practice. The Systems Engineering courses (and all degrees) are offered face-to-face and by distance delivery, synchronously and asynchronously and may include lecture, seminar, and other distance education formats. The Programs engage faculty to teach at the main campus in Fort Collins as well as a south metro Denver location. Its culture is to embrace intellectual creativity at all levels, operating under the principles of openness, inclusiveness, and integrity.

Position Summary

The College of Engineering at Colorado State University invites applications for a tenured/tenure-track faculty position at Assistant/Associate Professor rank. The successful candidate will be appointed to a home department in one of CSU’s five Engineering Departments. This search seeks candidates with a systems-centric research and teaching record in the fields of systems engineering, cost modeling and optimization, requirements engineering, test and evaluation, model-based systems engineering, and other aspects of systems engineering and systems engineering science. This position seeks to build scholarly capacity within the College of Engineering Systems Engineering Program (www.engr.colostate.edu/se). Further information about the College of Engineering can be found at www.engr.colostate.edu. This faculty position is a full-time, regular, nine-month tenured/tenure-track appointment. Successful candidates are expected to build and maintain a strong, internationally-recognized research program supported through external funding, to enhance their Department’s and Systems Engineering’s educational programs, and to provide service to the College of Engineering and broader community. Successful candidates will teach courses and advise students in both the Systems Engineering Program and in their home department at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and will develop advanced courses in his or her areas of expertise. The home department and Systems Engineering Program will be responsible for tenure, promotion, and yearly evaluations.

A Ph.D. or equivalent in an engineering discipline or a closely related field is required by the date of hire.

Preferred Job Qualifications

Candidates should demonstrate great promise for extraordinary scholarship, and preferably have applicable experience in an academic, government, or industrial setting
Candidates should exhibit ability and enthusiasm to teach online and resident instruction courses in the undergraduate and graduate curriculum of their department and the Systems Engineering program.
Candidates should demonstrate a personal and professional commitment to diversity as demonstrated by involvement in teaching, research, creative activity, service to the profession, and/or inclusion activities. Candidates whose scholarly interests are demonstrated to align with the College of Engineering, the Systems Engineering Program, and CSU’s institutional strengths are strongly preferred.
