Atrium Health Staff Accountant - Cabarrus College in Concord, North Carolina

Schedule:

Full-Time; 40 hours/week

Monday - Friday, 8a-5p

Job Summary

Performs duties of limited to moderate complexity, judgment, and scope, which include account analyses, reconciliations, and journal entry preparation for all facilities.

Essential Functions

  • Maintains efficient operations of department and ensures the timeliness, accuracy and quantity of departmental output is maintained in the absence of leader.

  • Prepares recurring and non-recurring journal entries for departmental month-end closing process.

  • Prepares general ledger account reconciliations.

  • Answers questions from department leaders concerning department-related matters on biweekly and monthly reports.

  • Maintains accurate and complete files which contain support for documents filed with Federal, State and non-government agencies.

  • Maintains all record retention documentation.

  • Performs student financial services that include billing, receivables, and refund functions.

  • Provides excellent customer service to prospects, students, alumni, and parents.

  • Performs cashiering functions.

  • Disburses financial aid per all required guidelines with specified timeframes.

  • Assists with financial reporting functions.

  • Serves on college committees and work collaboratively with key areas to support persistence, and graduation initiatives.

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • 3 to 5 years experience required.

  • Post high school education including an Associate Degree in Business or Finance is strongly preferred.

  • Two years of experience in billing and receivables in an academic setting is strongly preferred.

  • Communicates effectively, verbally and in written form.

  • Evidence of strong computer skills, including knowledge of Excel and general knowledge of office equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Work requires stretching and bending for filing and obtaining research records.

  • Must be able to lift and transport reports, up to 20+ pounds.

  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Majority of day is sitting.
