NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
AREA OF CONSIDERATION:This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709", and is open to Category 1: All permanent/indefinite military technicians in the Florida National Guard; Category 2: All current military members of the Florida National Guard; and Category 3: All individuals who qualify for membership in the Florida National Guard.
INDEFINITE APPOINTMENT: This is an obligated position (current occupant is on a Military Tour). If an individual employed in the excepted civil service accepts this position, he/she will receive an indefinite appointment. If a Reduction-In-Force occurs and/or the military tour member reclaims this position, the indefinite appointee will have no reemployment rights to his/her former position or any other position. If the military tour member, having reemployment rights to this position, does not exercise his/her rights within 5 years, this position may be converted to a permanent status without further competition.
As a SUPERVISORY SPACE OPERATIONS SPECIALIST, GS-0301-12, you will serve as a first level supervisor and provide advanced technical training and instruction for a space squadron. Perform mission execution and a variety of supervisory staff functions including Operations, Standardization and Evaluation, Training, and Weapons and Tactics. Provide accurate and timely analysis critical to the effectiveness of unit operations and survivability of unit resources. Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Establish work schedules and daily duty assignments. Provide counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience, education, or training which provided a general knowledge of the principles of organization, management, and administration; experience using computer and automation systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE*:* GS-12 must have at least 36 months experience, education or training in program or managerial experience in a type of work or a combination of functions directly related to space operations or in comparable work functions. Experience developing and recommending policy, organizing and carrying out specific programs, evaluating and recommending changes in methods of operations; experience in supervisory, staff or technical work which included study, analysis or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of managerial or administrative policies, practices and procedures. Experience preparing written communication and oral presentations; experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
