Business Analyst- Point of Sale


The point of sale business analyst acts as a connection between the business community and the technical community. This role works with IT project teams/vendors and business clients to collet, clarify, and translate business requirements into documentation and conceptual design. The BSA is an active thought partner and application visionary who shares the technology demand among the business community. 90% of the role will be independent work, testing software updates from our Point of Sale vendor and providing sprint style updates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts user acceptance testing

  • Participate in major upgrades to packaged software

  • Analyzes, documents and test program development, logic, process flows and specifications

  • Partners with business and technology partners to elicit, analyze, translate, and document business requirements into technical requirements.

  • Documents user manuals to describe application installations and operating procedures

  • Coordinates the project resources to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget

  • Assists with support/operations

  • Work with end users to develop best practice business processes

  • Participate or lead training on business functionality for system end users


  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

  • Able to understand business functionality and translate it into application requirements

  • Ability to create compelling business cases with accurate cost and effort estimations

  • Excellent understanding of business complexity and project interdependencies

  • Intellectual curiosity and the ability to question partners across functional areas

  • Ability to quickly troubleshoot problems that may arise

  • Ability to partner with software engineers and quality analysts to identify course of resolutions


  • Minimum three years of experience in project management, hands on retail experience

  • Demonstrated experience in writing software requirements and test specifications

  • Aptos POS experience

  • Deep understanding of retail processes, applications and operations

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field or equivalent work experience.
