FUNCTION & SCOPE:

Reporting to the Web & User Experience Lead the student selected for this position will build an understanding of the Research Foundation (RF) website presence and the content management system used to deliver it to the public web. In the course of their work, the selected student candidate will provide assistance ranging from operational, departmental initiatives, as well as project level support for a range of projects currently in the pipeline as well as those specific to the RF's website. As such, the student sought after should be able to execute assigned tasks from conception to completion in a timely and accurate manner as a key driver to the overall objective's success. In doing so, the individual selected will assist primarily on tasks associated with the organization's web presence such as the execution of routine modification requests, generation of testing sites and prototypes in line with request requirements, participation in testing and validation of new or project related web changes, and address end user issues. Given the range of activities this person will address in this role it will be crucial that the individual have a collaborative disposition, to work with various team members in each area to identify tasks and objectives and follow up with regular status updates through various forms of communication.

DUTIES:

  • Assist with web page development, design, content generation/editing, and web content migrations.

  • Ensure thorough documentation of web related requests.

  • Utilize multiple techniques, wireframing, prototyping, etc. in the course of development activities in order to reach a higher-quality end product.

  • Perform image manipulation tasks such as image resizing, file format conversion, and basic image editing.

  • Assist with the execution of testing of new web changes to ensure functionality and display quality.

  • Troubleshoot website related issues for resolution.

  • Other duties as assigned.

SPECIAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels of employees throughout the organization.

  • Adept in learning new software tools and systems.

  • Outstanding communication and organizational skills.

  • Possess critical thinking skills in approaching problems.

  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS and jQuery, Content Management Systems, and Adobe Illustrator.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 products.

    Job Requirements:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Candidate should hold a high school degree or equivalent.

  • Is currently enrolled in an accredited degree program, a student from the State University of New York (SUNY) colleges and universities is preferred but not required.

  • Has demonstrated organization skills, willingness to work independently, problem solve, adhere to deadlines, effective listening/communication, and proven commitment to follow established processes/procedures.

  • This position will be part-time 20 hours a week, year round.

Compensation for this position: The compensation for this role is $18/hr undergrad and $20/hr grad students.
