Job Purpose and Impact
The Technology Leader - Protein R&D will explore, develop and implement new and existing solutions for protein processing. In this role, you will conduct research to tackle ambiguous problems and provide technical expertise to develop new solutions. You will develop technology and processes to create new capabilities and implement solutions to scientific problems.
Key Accountabilities
Develop and maintain technology roadmaps that enable the protein business strategy and appropriately position it versus competitors and versus emerging technologies.
Define the technology portfolio’s business and financial objectives and targets, ensuring effective collaboration with our teams across the company.
Develop and execute on research protocols and yearly research plans in alignment with broad objectives.
Build relationships with research partners.
Provide technical leadership in scientific area of meat science expertise including research process development and improvement.
Interpret results of research trials or studies.
Write reports to clarify and document conclusions and may present ongoing work and findings to external audiences at conferences including the summaries and the nature and methodology of the research.
Provide expert thought leadership in your field and work with limited direction, using additional research and interpretation to identify issues or problems. You may provide direction to supporting team members and be a strategic contributor.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree or other post-secondary degree
Leadership and managerial skills
Experience conducting research projects
Minimum of six years of related work experience
Ability to travel up to 30%
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Doctorate degree in a meat science related field
Meat science experience
R&D experience in primary beef and/or raw or cooked meat commercialization
Experimental design and statistics experience
Experience working cross-functionally in a matrixed environment.
