Position Title: Head Wrestling Coach School/Division: Wrestling (division) Full Time/Part Time: Full-Time Description: Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Athletics and Chief Operating Officer, the Head Wrestling Coach is responsible for the management and administration of all phases of the intercollegiate sports program. The Head Wrestling Coach is responsible for the skill instruction and player development of all student-athletes, the recruitment and retention of quality student-athletes and the overall success of the sport program. The Head Coach is recognized as pivotal to, and responsible for, the record of the program as it relates to competitive scheduling, university/community relations and the enhancement of the student-athlete. This position requires working weekends and holidays and other responsibilities as assigned by the athletic administration. Responsible for knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. If found responsible for a violation of NCAA regulations, will be subject to disciplinary or corrective action, including termination if appropriate. Also, may be responsible for any act or omission that may give rise to a finding that the University has violated an NCAA regulation. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Prepares, organizes, conducts and directs an appropriate schedule of team practice and competition activities that complies with all appropriate policies, goals and objectives. Coordinates team travel, itineraries, lodging and meals in a timely fashion in accordance with departmental policies and guidelines. Manages the scholarship allotment per university and NCAA rules and regulations in accordance with the Department Financial Aid policy. Coordinates facility use and scheduling in cooperation with department personnel. Administers and oversees the program budget and purchasing activities in a responsible manner consistent with all department, university and NCAA policies and guidelines for financial transactions. Collaborates with equipment room staff regarding the distribution, collection, and ordering of athletic equipment and supplies. Establishes annual recruiting goals and plans to enroll a diverse group of qualified student-athletes with the ability to participate at the Division 1 level. Annually reviews rule changes from the NCAA and CAA conference as it pertains to the wrestling program. Ensures and communicates expectations for student-athletes' academic, conduct and other performance and engagement issues, collaborating appropriately with university personnel and department liaisons. Collaborates with athletic training personnel regarding medical clearances, injury prevention, rehabilitation and playing status of student-athletes. Promotes and manages the development and coordination of university and community engagement and service activities that promote positive interaction between student-athletes, non-student-athletes and community members. Supervises and evaluates all assistant coaches within the program, recommending to the director of athletics the hiring and retention of all personnel associated with the program. Oversees all social media interactions/posts of the wrestling program ensuring they are meeting all department standards as well as NCAA rules and regulations. Promotes and cultivates alumni programs and outreach in conjunction with Institutional Advancement. Promotes the University is all public relations activities at the direction of the Department of Communications. Serves as needed on department, division and university committees. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. At least 3-5 years of relevant coaching experience. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree preferred. D1 college wrestling experience. D1 college coaching experience.
